Research & Production

Pacific Oilseeds was created in 1954 and grew into a multinational company under the name Pacific Vegetable Oil. One of the divisions of PVO became SeedTec International Incorporated in 1981. SeedTec developed and sold worldwide lines of Alfalfa, Corn, Grain Sorghum, Sunflowers and Safflower. Over the next several years, SeedTec enjoyed the success of those crops. Many of those same lines are still in the marketplace today.

In 1991, Mitsubishi purchased SeedTec as it complemented and had various synergies with California Oils Corporation. In 1996, SeedTec becomes a part of California Oils Corporation and maintained the breeding and production of safflower varieties.

Today, SeedTec operates as the agricultural arm for California Oils Corporation, thereby helping them to become a fully vertically integrated company.

SeedTec produces and markets safflower seeds to both facilitate the oil program for California Oils, but for others who desire a quality product. Seeds are tested, produced and marketed for multiple markets across the globe.

In addition, SeedTec operates, on behalf of California Oils, commercial procurement programs for raw materials such as safflower and sunflower to enable California Oils to bring the best quality oils to market. SeedTec works with growers to ensure sustainable practices, furthering its commitment to global environmental awareness.
